There has been a lot of recent changes in Utah that has caused a lot of conflict in the news and in social media. When I first read about it and saw what people were saying, my first thoughts were on how judgmental many of the comments were. I thought, how could people jump to such conclusions and not try to find out more information before judging. Why can’t people just be more understanding of one another instead of bashing each other.
As I was pondering on these thoughts, a favorite song from Michael Jackson popped into my head.
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
At that moment, I realized that I needed to look a little deeper. Am I judging others quickly? Am I jumping to conclusions many times before I know what is going on? Do I have my own thoughts, my own anger that is taking me farther away from God rather than bringing me closer to God?
The answer was definitely a yes, and so you see today I am changing the world. I am looking in the mirror to see my own shortcomings. I am choosing to be kinder, more understanding, and clearing old anger and beliefs. I am choosing to clean my own window instead of complaining of how dirty someone else’s window is. I am choosing to be accountable because I know that I get to choose what I create, and I have decided that I want to create something better.
I want to create love, not anger. I want to create understanding instead of judgment. I want to create peace, but I can only change the world if I change myself. So today I am changing the world.
I love your post. So clean and pure and accurate. Thank you for sharing.
